The comments regarding frequent oil changes are spot on! Failure to follow or ideally improve on Leyland guidelines would result in multiple o ring failures (usually hardening) and damaged clutch packs.

The o ring “kit” for these is formidable, containing what seems like hundreds of tiny o rings and the only way to replace them is to remove the…”

Road trip? This is the car you want. Need to do a Costco run for a family gathering of 100 people? The Impala trunk has you covered!

Some of the best air conditioning and heat you’ll ever encounter in a car.

And if you desire more power you can do what I’m doing now after 13 years of ownership. Lloyd Elliot heads and cam for some more fun. 🙂

GLWA and I hope the next owner puts some proper mileage on this beast.”

Ah, yes, the Classified section of Road & Track! I whiled away much time in my youth perusing Dad’s years of R&T back issues, dreaming of one day being grown up and being able to buy one of the cars. Today, the story is the same, just perusing Bring a Trailer instead.

Ran smallish rear tires to limit traction. would take a friend out for a drive w/o the back cover in – most not accustomed to red hot headers and the noise a solid lifter V-8 makes. LOL. 50+ years later now drive a R8 – sort of similar but with massaging leather seats!! GLWTA!!”
