About The Engagement Edge

The Engagement Edge is the official blog of Cars Buy Text, where we share strategies, insights, and real-world success stories on how SMS is transforming automotive retail. Since 2013, we’ve helped dealerships nationwide generate over 1 million customer engagements from platforms like AutoTrader, Cars.com, and CarGurus — turning everyday ads into powerful text-driven sales channels.

Our mission is simple: help dealerships meet buyers where they are and close more deals through faster, smarter communication. Here you’ll find best practices, case studies, and actionable tips to keep your store ahead of the curve in today’s digital-first marketplace.

Because at the end of the day, customers don’t want to wait on hold or send emails into the void. They want answers now — and texting delivers.

“A Christmas wish, a dream of speed and grace,

No simple toy beneath the tinsel’s shine,

But a Chiron Bugatti to leave its trace,

A masterpiece of power, wholly divine.

The price tag high, a fortune vast to pay,

For roaring engines and the scent of leather new,

    Upon this joyful, gift-receiving day,

A gleaming marvel, in a stunning hue.

Beneath the tree, no socks nor simple game,

But keys in hand to unlock might untold,

To feel the rush, the engine’s rising flame,

    A Christmas…”

Our hope is for this ol’ girl to have her story told and her former glory restored. We congratulate the future auction winner of the 56’ Imperial Convertible project. We can’t wait to see her roll down the street, top down, and HEMI purring once again! Best of luck to all the bidders.”

Made many a stop at Wisconsin Dells and remember it just as you describe! Sincere condolences on the passing of your mother (and untimely/early passage of your father). Shopping for my first new car ..In those golden years of American muscle cars my choices were daunting …Chevy 409/409, Ford 406/405, Pontiac 421/405, Dodge/Plymouth 413/420.

I ruled out the Mopars for their very quirky looks. Our family car was a ‘60 Bonneville convertible so I was leaning toward the Pontiac but my local dealer was reluctant to sell me what was considered an all out race car. After much haggling I ordered a 421/405 SD but it was late summer and…”

As the owner of a very similar ‘36 Packard – also in original paint, pinstripe and plating, but a convertible coupe, I can certainly appreciate this one, and I love it with the black wall tires, tho I’d look for some one size larger. I learned how to drive in that car by driving it across the USA when we moved from Cleveland to Colorado Springs in 1977 on a learner’s permit. “I kind of feel like the 997.2 Turbo S is a hidden menu item. So many people talk about 997.1 Turbos and 991.1 Turbos, but this remains akin to a secret for enthusiasts.

It has the smaller, more nimble feel of the 997 chassis coupled with the ferocity and traction of the PDK and AWD, and although these aren’t the Mezger engines they are stout.

This generation remains somewhat of a ‘if you know you know’ type of Porsche, and there is SO MUCH to absolutely love about it. GLWTA!”

Eli’s the belt line and it’s so small it’s barely noticeable. Very small deviation for an otherwise perfect recreation.

Note the air conditioning. Looks like what genuine aftermarket real 300SL would have installed because the car is so hot inside. If you watch enough 300 SL driving videos you will…”

He ended up buying the fly yellow De Tomaso Mangusta John had, instead. That’s the car in which he picked me up at Orange County Airport when I was discharged from the Army in 1971. Sure wish he’d kept that car, or either of the two E-Types he owned (one of which he’d bought from Mr. Weinberger).”

My fair weather daily drivers last summer were this Golf, a 2018 GT3 Touring, and my venerable 993. For regular use, the Golf is ~80% of the fun of the GT3 for 20% of the money. Sold the GT3 shortly thereafter just because I prefer the Golf. Will never sell the 993, though.”
