Text Drive Sales:This 1957 Chevrolet 3116 Suburban Carryall was purchased new by the seller’s father-in-law from Peninsula Chevrolet of Palo Alto, California. The seller tells us that their spouse learned to drive in the truck, and that it has travelled more than 257k miles throughout the Western US as well as areas of Mexico, Canada, and Alaska. The stops along the way are chronicled in a handwritten mileage and fuel log that will accompany the truck. The seller acquired the Suburban in 1988, and it underwent a two-year refurbishment by Ken’s Klassics of Muscoda, Wisconsin, that was completed in 2001. The work involved overhauling the 235ci Thriftmaster inline-six, three-speed overdrive manual transmission, suspension, brakes, and fuel system as well as replacing the wiring harness and side glass, refurbishing the interior, and refinishing the body in its original shade of Royal Blue. Further work included rebuilding the starter, generator, radiator, and heater core in addition to re-chroming the brightwork, refurbishing the radio, and replacing the weatherstripping, clutch, rear springs, and rear axle assembly. Features include a clamshell-style tailgate, three rows of seating, 16″ steel wheels, and a receiver hitch.
